This is a side view of the three-storey Eusoff College at 26, Evans Road. It was the first university hall of residence or hostel for female students of University of Malaya in Singapore. Declared open by Mrs. Maude Scott on 1 November 1958, it was named after Dr. Haji Mohamed Eusoff, Pro-Chancellor of University of Malaya in Singapore and Chairman of the University Council (1953-1957). It began taking male boarders in 1984. The hostel was closed down in March 2001. In present day, the building became known as "Evans Lodge". Past principals of Eusoff College include Dr. Ruth Wong Hie King (1958-1963); Dr. Jean M. Robertson (1963-1967); Dr. Nalla Tan nee Navarednam (1967-1971); Dr. Eileen Aw (1972-1979); Dr. Lim Kiat Boey (1979-1996); and Professor Lee Kok Onn (2001). Title devised by Library staff.
