The original Kew Ong Yah Temple at Upper Serangoon Road

This picture depicts the façade of Tou Mu Kong temple (斗母宫) at 779A, Upper Serangoon Road. The temple worships Nine Emperor Gods (九皇大帝) but bears the name of Goddess of the North Star (斗母), mother of Nine Emperor Gods. It was established by a Chinese businessman, Mr. Ong Choo Kee, in 1921. On 14 January 2005, the Preservation of Monuments Board officially gazettes the temple as a national monument. Title devised by Library staff.
