This is a half-length portrait of Brigadier General Bey Soo Khiang, Chief of Air Force of the Republic of Singapore Air Force from September 1992 to June 1995; succeeding Brigadier General Michael Teo Eng Cheng, who served from November 1985 to August 1992. In 1974, he was awarded the Singapore Armed Forces Overseas Scholarship. He became Head of Air Intelligence (Mar 1983-May 1987); Head of Air Operations (Jul 1988-Sep 1991); the sixth Commander of the Paya Lebar Air Base (Oct 1991-Jun 1992); Commander of Paya Lebar Air Base (Oct 1991-Jun 1992); Chief of Staff, Air Staff (Jun-Aug 1992); the third Chief of Defence Force of the Singapore Armed Forces (Jul 1995-Apr 2000); Executive Vice President of the Singapore Airlines (July 2000-Feb 2011); Chairman of the SIA Cargo (Aug 2008-2010); and Member of the Sentosa Development Corporation (2009). He was promoted to the rank of Colonel in 1990, BG in 1992, Major General in 1994 and as Lieutenant General in 1996. He was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) (Military) in 1991, the Public Administration Medal (Gold) (Military) in 1995 and the Meritorious Service Medal (Military) in 2000.
