This is a head-and-shoulder portrait of Mrs. Yu-Foo Yee Shoon (符喜泉), Secretary of National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) Women's Programme Committee (1977-1980). She was a former student at Nanyang Girls' High School (1962-1967); Chairman (1981-1983), Vice-President (1984), Assistant Secretary-General (1988-1997) and later Deputy-Secretary General of National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) (1997-1999); Member of Board of Directors of NTUC Income (1980-1995); Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Community Development (Jun 1999-Mac 2000) and Community Development and Sports (Apr 2000-Mar 2001); Mayor for Bukit Timah Community Development Council or CDC (Mar 2001-Mar 2002) and South West CDC (Mar 2002-Aug 2004); Minister of State for Community Development, Youth and Sports (Aug 2004-to date); Executive Secretary of Building, Construction and Timber Industries Employees Union (1984-1989), Textile Industries Workers' Union (1984-1992) and Food and Beverage Industries Workers' Union (1996-1999); People's Action Party Member of Parliament for Yuhua (Dec 1984-Dec 1996), Bukit Timah GRC (Dec 1996-Oct 2001), Jurong GRC (Nov 2001-Apr 2006) and Holland-Bukit Timah GRC (May 2006-May 2011); and Member (1985) and later Chairman of Board of Trustees of Singapore National Co-operatives Federation (2002-2005).
