Information About

This is a photograph of a view of Connaught Drive. On the left is a partial view of the base structure of the Cenotaph, a war memorial in Esplanade Park. On the right is the Esplanade (later "Padang"). In the far right background is the clock tower of Victoria Theatre and Memorial Hall at Empress Place. Formerly known as "New Esplanade Road", it was renamed as "Connaught Drive" by the Municipal Council in 1907, in honour of Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught (b.1850-d.1942). Title devised by Library staff.
