Mr. Fong Swee Suan sits on the steps outside a door in Changi Prison. He was detained under the Public Security Ordinance during the Middle Road riots in October 1956, and was released on 4 June 1959 together with Messrs. S. Woodhull, Chan Chiaw Thor, Lim Chin Siong, and C.V. Devan Nair. Fong was Secretary-General of Singapore Bus Workers' Union (1955-1956). Title devised by Library staff.
