This is the façade of Al-Abrar Mosque or Masjid Al-Abrar with two large octagonal minarets topped by a crescent moon and star at 192, Telok Ayer Street. The single-storey brick building was built between 1850 and 1855, replacing a thatched hut built after 1827 by the Chulias, an Indian Muslim minority from South India. The mosque was also known as "Masjid Chulia" or "Chulia Mosque". It was gazetted as a national monument by Preservation of Monuments Board on 19 November 1974. Between 1986 and 1989, after extensive renovations, a second storey was added as residence for the imam. Title devised by Library staff.
