This is a head-and-shoulder portrait of young Elaine Sng Poh Chuan, an accomplished swimmer and student of Singapore Chinese Girls’ School in 1975. She represented Singapore in the Commonwealth Games (1970 and 1974); SEAP Games (1971 and 1973); Asian Games (1970 and 1974); and the Asian Age Group Swimming Championships (1970-1974). She was awarded the Best Sportswoman of the Year in 1973. Her younger sister, Miss Junie Sng Poh Leng, was winner of the Best Sportswoman of the Year in three consecutive years: 1977 to 1979.
