This is a half-length portrait of Mr. Tay Kheng Soon, a practising architect (since 1965) and Adjunct Professor at the School of Architecture, National University of Singapore. He studied Architecture and Building at the Singapore Polytechnic in 1959. He was the founding Member and Chairman of the Singapore Planning and Urban Research Group (1970-1971); Chairman of The Substation; founder and Principal Partner of the architect firm, Akitek Tenggara (1976); and President of the Singapore Institute of Architects (1991-1993). His wife, Dr. Chan Heng Chee, was Ambassador to United States (1996-1997); and Director of the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (1993-1996). Title devised by Library staff.
