This picture depicts the Kim Lan Temple (金兰庙) or Golden Lotus Temple, the earliest Chinese temple at Narcis Street, off Tanjong Pagar Road. The temple was built in 1830 and refurbished in 1881 by Mr. Cheang Hong Lim as a public worship place. In 1988, the Government acquired the land and the temple was relocated to Kim Tian Road. The temple is also known as Kim Lan Beo. Title devised by Library staff.
