Information About

An elevated view of the H-shaped Anglo-Chinese School at Barker Road, off Dunearn Road. Behind the school building stands a mansion known as "Oldham Hall" (left), a boarding house for the students. The mansion was demolished to make way for the Quadrangle and tuckshop. Facing the semicircular driveway is the clock tower with a portico (right). The school was declared open by Sir Franklin Gimson on 29 September 1950. The campus was also home to Anglo-Chinese Junior School and Oldham Methodist School (later known as "Anglo-Chinese Secondary School"). In 1985, ACS (Junior) moved to the Cairnhill campus at 25, Peck Hay Road. In January 1988, ACS (Secondary) became independent and known as "Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)". ACS (I) moved to its new premises at 121, Dover Road in January 1992. Past principals of ACS (I) include Dr. Lawrence Chia Hock Leong (Jan 1988-1993); Dr. Ong Teck Chin (1994-Oct 2010); and Mrs. Fanny Tan nee Yap Yoke Fun (Acting, Oct 2010-2011); and Mr. Winston James Hodge (Jun 2011-to date).
