He was Commanding Officer of 140 Squadron (Jan 1975-May 1977) and 144 Squadron (Feb 1979-Mar 1980); Head of Air Operations (Apr-Dec 1980); Deputy Commander (Nov 1980-Jun 1982), Commander (Nov 1985-Apr 1990) and later Chief of Air Force of the Republic of Singapore Air Force (May 1990-Aug 1992); Singapore's High Commissioner to New Zealand (1994-1996) and the United Kingdom (Jan 2002-to date), and Ambassador to the Republic of Korea (1996-2001) and Mongolia (1997); and Director of Singapore Aerospace (Jun 1982-1992).
