This is a head-and-shoulder portrait of Mr. Chin Harn Tong (钱翰琮), People's Action Party Member of Parliament for Aljunied (1972-1988) and Aljunied GRC (1988-1996). He was a teacher at Kiau Nam School (1957-1961) and Chung Hwa Girls' High School (1964); Deputy Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office; Assistant Director at NTUC Research Unit (1970-1978); Secretary and Executive Director (1971-1978) and Advisor of NTUC COMFORT (1978-1986); Political Secretary (Jun 1977-1978), Parliamentary Secretary (1978-1981) and later Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Home Affairs (1981-1988); Non-Executive Director of SBS Transit Limited (1993-to date); Assistant General Secretary (1980-1983) and later General Secretary of the Singapore Industrial Labour Organisation (1983-1985); Advisor of the Singapore Stevedores' Union (1985-2007); and People's Action Party Member of Parliament for Aljunied (1972-1988) and Aljunied GRC (1988-1996). He was conferred the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) (1971), the Friend of Labour Award (1971) and the Meritorious Service Award (2000) by the National Trades Union Congress.
