This is a close-up of Major General Lim Neo Chian (林梁长), Chief Executive Officer (May 1995-Dec 1997) and later Chairman (Jan 1998 to Sep 2002) of Jurong Town Corporation. A former student of Towner Primary School and Raffles Institution, he became a Singapore Armed Forces Overseas Scholar (1972) and thereafter, held several senior appointments as Commander of the 3rd Singapore Infantry Brigade or 3 SIB (Jun 1989-Jun 1991); Commander of the 3rd Singapore Division (Jun 1991-); Assistant Chief of General Staff; Head Joint Operations Department of Joint Operations and Plans Directorate; Chief of Staff (Army) of General Staff (1992); Chief of Army at Ministry of Defence (Jul 1992-Apr 1995); Chairman of Ascendas Private Limited (2001); Member (Feb 1998-1999) and Second Deputy Chairman of Economic Development Board (Feb 1999-2002); CEO of China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park Development Company (Mar 1998-Dec 2000); Deputy Chairman and CEO of Singapore Technologies Engineering Limited (Jun 2001-Feb 2002); Chief Executive of Singapore Tourism Board (Oct 2002-Dec 2008); Vice-Chairman of Singapore Red Cross Society (Jan 2002 to date); Member of Advisory Council on Sports and Recreation, Trade Development Board, and Nanyang Technological University Council (1993); and Director of Singapore Precision Industries Private Limited. He was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General from Colonel in 1991 and later to Major General in July 1994. He was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Gold) in 2003, the Public Administration Medal (Gold) (Military) in 1994, the Public Administration Medal (Silver) (Military) in 1987, the SAF Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (12 years) in 1983, and the Commendation Medal (Silver) (Military) in 1982.
