This book is on Malayan orchids by Professor R.E. Holttum published in 1953 and revised in 1964. Orchids belong to the largest group of flowering plants in the world. It is estimated that about 25,000 species representing 660 genera have so far been recorded. Of these, well over 800 species covering 120 genera are said to be indigenous to Peninsular Malaysia.
