This volume is one of the series of five volumes on the history of ASEAN countries published under the Southeast Asian Studies Program which is based at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies. The volume starts with a short survey of the pre-modern history of Singapore followed by chronological accounts of events and specialised presentations of particular topics and periods in particular, the social transformation of modern Singapore.
