The Malay Archipelago : the land of the orang-utan and the bird of paradise : a narrative of travel, with studies of man and nature

Information About

This is a narrative of Alfred Russel Wallace who travelled to the Malay Archipelago in the middle of the 19th century. Although the focus of this book is mainly the inhabitants of the Archipelago, in particular orang-utans and humans, Wallace has included descriptions of many species of other animals found in the region. For ease of access to the content, he used a geographical, then zoological, followed by ethnological arrangement instead of chronology. It is illustrated by his own sketches and photographs.
