The sea nomads : a study of the maritime boat people of Southeast Asia / David E. Sopher

Information About

A complete investigation of these sea folk might contribute conclusions which would be useful for studies dealing with early sea travel. Thus a geographical study might disclose some environmental relationships which would be significant for primitive maritime man; a consideration of the inner cultural life of the primitive sea nomads and their relations with other strand societies might help to explain the origin and demonstrate the persistence of the sea's attraction, the persistence of the attraction being represented by resistance to change on the part of the sea nomads.
