ff.2-38. Hikayat Pelanduk Jenaka. Text frames of double ruled lines of black ink. (The ink used is initially black, and then changes to a more acidic brown-black ink on ff.8v-9r and from f.22v onwards, which is also used for the text frames.) Dated at end 22 Rejab 1220 AH (16 October 1805),on Wednesday, in the year wau, copied by Ahmad Keling. This scribe can be identified as Ahmad Rijaluddin, author and scribe of Add.12386, Hikayat Perintah Negeri Benggala.B: ff.39-46. Texts in Bugis; the ff. are misbound. On ff.45v-39r (beginning on f.44r) a part of the Bugis poem (tolo’) on the life and exploits of Arumpone La Tenritatta Arung Palakka Sa‘d al-Dīn, also called To-risompae (to whom homage is paid), Malampe’e gemme’na (the man with the long hair), and Matinroe riBontoale’ (he who died in Botoale’). He lived from 1634 to 1696. This part deals with the defeat inflected upon Arung Palakka by a Makasarese expeditionary force under the king of Goa himself, his decision to leave Bone, his embarkation in Cempalagiang (Dec. 1660), and his sailing to Butung. In three lines preceding the poem it is dated 12 Rab. II 1221 AH (30 May 1806 AD). The same episode is mentioned in Matthes, 1875, p.66, in a description of Netherlands Bible Society Bugis MS No. 181. The script of this MS is quite regular. Sometimes instead of the usual sign for the consonant j a triangle of three dots is used; the vowel-bearer is occasionally represented by one dot (this use of dots is commonly found in palm-leaf MSS but is occasionally also found in paper MSS).On ff.46r-47v-45r-46v are (apparently) lessons or exercises in the use of the Bugis language: words, short sentences, a conversation with the master of a merchant ship about goods he offers for sale.C: ff.51-110.
