This book chronicles the genesis, objectives and the evolution of the National Wages Council (NWC) which is a national body that sets wage determination process and mechanism in Singapore. The author's coverage is largely confined to the period when he was the NWC Chairman from 1972 to 2001. It also chronicles the NWC's wage and wage related recommendations during the economic crisis in 1974, 1985 and 1998 as well as during the economic restructuring from 1979 to 1981.
