This publication comprises a series of jottings made by "Tom Cringle", the pen name of William Walker. Originally published as a series of articles in the "Times of India", the author decided to reprint them in book form. These jottings are accounts of what the author saw and did during his travels to various parts of South and Southeast Asia. His intention was to supply information to travellers intending to visit the same places.
