Information About

The author lived for several years on various islands of the Indian Archipelago as it was then known and acquired first-hand knowledge of its cultures, geography, ethnology, agriculture, trade and other economic and social practices. He records his experiences in this work comprising three volumes. The first volume provides details of the physical appearance, characteristics, manners and customs of the people as well as their arts, science and agriculture.
