Gearing up for their debut album launch in February 2014, The Pinholes are Famie Suliman, Didi Hanafiah, Qush ‘Rock n Rock’ and Wando, a rock and roll quartet that seems to have stepped straight out of the Sixties. Their first EP “Longlive Rock N Roll” was released in 2006, a self-produced, self-released effort, inspired by the decades before – of funk, psychedelica and alternative rock. They have maintained that ‘do it yourself’ approach throughout their other releases and shows, writing songs that try to encapsulate all the passionate charisma of The Rolling Stones as well as the easy-going melodies of The Beach Boys. Their brand of retro rock and beatnik vibes have taken them far, performing in Austin, Texas for South by Southwest 2010, CAMA Fest 2013 in Vietnam, Johor Art Festival 2012 and Baybeats Festival 2013 back home. They have also toured Malaysia extensively, with their music getting rotation on both Malaysian and Indonesian radio stations. Their determinedly local sound and homage to past music greats like The Kinks and The Beatles set them aside from the majority of experimental and electronic performers, performing with a rawness that resounds with their audiences.
