Information About

The Universal Blues Band, or Ublues, is one of Singapore’s most well-known acts, having travelled extensively and being lauded by critics as one of the best blues bands in Asia. Led by Danny Loong, Ublues has performed in Australia, Spain, Italy, America and throughout Asia. Their debut album “Get on the Blues Train” received favourable reviews internationally especially in the US and Australia, with many lauding them as a crucial part of the local blues revival. In the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, USA, the band received critical acclaim and went on to be the first Asian act invited to perform in Bluesfest 2004, a prestigious festival held in Byron Bay, Australia. They have performed on the same bill as such iconic performers like James Brown and a string of luminaries including Buddy Guy, Robert Plant, Bob Dylan and John Legend. The band stopped playing together in 2005 and Danny then co-founded Timbre group with partner Edward Chia into its substantial and successful forays in hospitality. With almost a dozen establishments to their name, including 6 F&B music venues, a music academy for mentoring musical talent, the Timbre Group has become an unparalleled presence and support for the local music industry. In 2010, co-founder Danny Loong was conferred the "Tourism Entrepreneur of The Year" award by the Singapore Tourism Board at the Singapore Experience Awards. Danny still performs with his band Raw Earth and other project bands. Scroll down this page to view MusicSG's video interview with the artiste!
