Ganesh Rajaram (b. 1967) served as a Nominated Member of Parliament (NMP) from 2016 to 2018, in Singapore’s 13th Parliament. He is also a veteran with over 30 years of experience in various media fields.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from the University of Calgary, and a Master of Arts in International Communication from Macquarie University. He also attended the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School.
Ganesh began his media career as a sports columnist at the Singapore Press Holdings in 1992. He covered the Malaysia Cup in its heyday and was instrumental in locating former Czech footballer and fugitive Michal Vana in Prague after he fled Singapore. In 1994, Ganesh became an executive producer at Mediacorp, a position he held till 2000. He later served as a board member of the Media Development Authority from 2010 to 2016.
In 2016, Ganesh was nominated by the media fraternity for appointment as an NMP. During his tenure, his focus was to help Singapore’s media industry thrive in the digital age. Beyond media, he and four other NMPs moved a motion on the future of Singapore's education system. He also raised education-related issues, including calls for a review of Direct School Admission (DSA) trials and concerns over “DSA coaches” contributing to elitism in school sports.
His media career reached a new height when he was made CEO of Fremantle Asia and Latin America in 2023. Under his leadership, Fremantle’s popular formats, including America’s Got Talent, American Idol, and The X Factor UK, found new audiences worldwide.
