Mohamed Irshad was appointed as a Nominated Member of Parliament (NMP) at the age of 29 and became one of the youngest NMPs ever. He represented the civic and people sector within the functional groups of the NMP scheme and served for one term, beginning in 2018. During his term, he was a member of the Singapore-South Asia & Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Parliamentary Group. In parliament, his concerns included championing the vulnerable, fostering social cohesion and building a resilient Singapore. Irshad is also the Founder and President of Roses of Peace (ROP), an interfaith non-profit organisation that seeks to build a harmonious, cohesive, and resilient Singapore. Since its inception in 2012, its programmes have aimed to unite people across faith, ethnicity, nationality, and culture by building bridges, deepening understanding, and strengthening trust.

Professionally, Irshad is the Head of Corporate Affairs for ASEAN at Tata Consultancy Services, a multinational corporation. He is also an Adjunct Faculty of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business at the Singapore Management University (SMU). He holds a Bachelor's in Business Management and a Master of Science in Communication Management degrees from SMU. In addition to his professional roles, he also serves as a District Councillor and Chairman of the Harmony Committee at the South East Community Development Council. His other public service roles include: Vice-Chairman of the Volunteers Management Sub-Committee at Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA), Vice-Chairman of Queenstown Harmony Circle, and member of the Indian Heritage Centre Advisory Board, amongst others. 

Internationally, Irshad is a member of the International Panel of Parliamentarians for Freedom of Religion or Belief, ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights and The Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers. In recognition of his contributions to the nation, Irshad has been conferred several awards, including the President's Volunteerism & Philanthropy Award (2018), the MUIS50 Inspiring Youth Award (2018) and the Inaugural Exemplary Interfaith Youth Leadership Award (2023).
