Closing of Ama Keng Medical Clinic

Dr Tan Cheng Bock lowered the shutters to the Ama Keng Medical Clinic at Jurong West for the last time on 22 Nov 2012. Established in 1971 in Ama Keng Village, the clinic had served the farmers and villagers in the Lim Chu Kang area. His medical fees were low yet some still cannot afford, so they paid him in kind like eggs, vegetables, and chickens. For those who cannot pay, he waived the fees. With resetlement of the area, the clinic had moved several times before locating to Jurong West for the last 15 years. Many old patients from old Ama Keng and staying far away continue to see Dr Tan.
