While many Singaporean men will tell you of the day they enlisted for NS, I will never forget the day that I enlisted for regular military service as a woman officer. My parents sent me off at the Dempsey Road Central Manpower Base. We loaded up the 3-tonners and proceeded to Pasir Laba where we were trained to be SAF woman officers!
