East Coast Lagoon Hawker Centre : memories filled over the years

Recollection
East Coast Lagoon hawker centre has always revolved around my life. Perhaps its the proximity of it to my house, my soulmate's school, my favourite running location at east coast park and etc. I remembered going there as a young kid before the renovations that made the hawker centre looking like what it is today. Back then, there were lesser tables and much messier organisation of the stalls. But that did not deter my family from visiting it to eat our favourite chicken wings, orh luak or meng kee satay bee hoon. Fast forward to my post secondary school days when I was dating. Being students, we did not have much to spend on food, however we always knew that good food does not have to come at a big price especially with hawkers like EC lagoon. She studied at Temasek JC and we would take a bus down to Victoria School and walk over to have a good meal of her favourite orh luak. We would then proceed on to have a nice walk around the park. That was 7 years ago but I hope that we would still continue to do that with many more years to come, enjoying the good food and each other's company. The beauty of East Coast Lagoon Hawker centre would be the variety of food that is available at any time of the day. In the morning, the briased duck rice and vinegared pig trotters always draw long queues. In the afternoon, the wanton mee stall and would be packed with the lunch crowd ranging from students to office workers. At night, the bbq seafood and beef kway teow stalls are amongst the crowd favourites. Overall, the variety ensures that you would never need to worry about finding something you feel like eating down there. Although hawker legends like meng kee satay beehoon has left the East Coast Lagoon Hawker Centre scene, however I am still heartened that no matter what activities I do in ECP be it running or just simply chilling out or in the vicinity, I know that there is good comfort hawker food filled with many precious memories there.
