Old Singapore coins and dollar notes

Recollection
These are a collection of old Singapore dollar notes and coins passed down from my grandfather. These notes and coins come from different series. The one dollar coin in the first image comes from the first series of coins that were used from 1967-1985. The one dollar coin was issued on June 12, 1967. A stylized Singapore lion flanked by two stalks of paddy is printed on the front of the coin. The one dollar note in the image was part of the earliest series of notes issued in Singapore called the "Orchid Series", which was in circulation from 1967-1976. The one dollar note was also issued on 12 June 1967. The front of the note shows a picture of a Vanda Janet Kaneali. Behind the note, there are blocks of flats. The two dollar note shown was part of the "Ship Series", which was in circulation from 1984-1999. This red two dollar note was issued on 28 January 1991. There was also a purple two dollar note issued on 16 December 1991. Both of them show a "Tongkang" on the front of the note, a light wooden boat use to carry goods along rivers during the 19th century. the back of the note shows different ethnic groups participating in a Chingay parade. The five dollar note I have was part of the "Bird Series", which was issued in the years 1976 to 1984. The front of the note shows the Red-whiskered Bulbul, while the back shows cable cars and a view of the harbour. The ten dollar note shown was also part of the "Orchid Series". The flower on the front is the Dendrobium Marjorie Ho "Tony Pek", and the back shows four hands clasped together with a background of Singapore, depicting racial harmony among our four main races. Through this I had a better understanding of the old Singapore currency and I hope you will too.
