Komala’s is an offshoot of the Komala Vilas Group, which owns the Komala Vilas restaurant. Continuing a family tradition of over 75 years in building vegetarian restaurants, it linked tradition with contemporary dining concepts to create a new dining experience.
Inspired by McDonald’s, which opened first in Singapore in late 1979, R T Sekar, the second son of the Group’s founder, established Komala’s in July 1995. The ‘fast food self-service’ concept was brought into the Indian vegetarian food scene by Komala’s fast food outlets. The chain also incorporated another trend that was becoming popular - fusion food, combining Indian dishes with local ethnic flavours. Komala’s Fusion Dining specialises in such cuisine.
Komala’s currently has four outlets in Upper Dickson Road, Yishun Central, Change Alley Mall, and International Plaza.
