Mediacorp Tamil Services

Mediacorp is the leading provider of local radio and television programmes in Tamil. Tamil radio has its antecedents in the 1930s, when Singapore was a British colony. However, Tamil television was introduced in 1963 by Mediacorp’s predecessor, Radio Television Singapore.

Since then, the company has evolved in line with audience demand and media consumption habits, offering a range of entertaining and high-quality content across its multiple platforms. Mediacorp has also played a significant role in the development and promotion of the Tamil language in Singapore. As a national media network and the largest broadcast content creator, Mediacorp presently engages over three million people in Singapore daily on its digital platforms, six TV channels and 11 radio stations in the four official languages of Singapore. It regularly conducts consumer engagement activities and offers content in Tamil across the following platforms:

● Vasantham, a free-to-air television channel featuring informational and entertaining Indian programming across various genres;
● Oli 968, the only Indian radio station in Singapore featuring news, current affairs, and entertainment;
● Seithi, a transmedia Tamil platform with the latest news available on television and radio, as well as bite-sized content, exclusive digital videos and analysis online for audiences from all walks of life; and
● meWATCH, a digital entertainment service with live and on-demand entertainment, sports and news content.

Mediacorp is also a strong champion of local creativity, constantly looking to identify and nurture promising talents within the industry. For Indian content, the company actively works with local production houses and individual content creators to showcase their work across its network.
