Children with special needs should not miss out the joy of playing with toys just because they have difficulty operating small ON and OFF buttons. The Hack-a-Toy workshops aim to teach participants how to DIY their own accessibility switches to adapt off-the-shelf toys for easy use by children with special needs. This not only restores their joy in playing, but also helps them learn cause and effect, and encourages the development of motor skills.

Participants will learn and apply basic concepts of electrical circuits & technical skills such as soldering, wire stripping, and assembly / disassembly to build an accessibility switch from off-the-shelf materials.

( ♦ ) Attendance is free for this workshop. All materials will be provided free of charge.
** Tools issued for use during workshop and will be collected back at the end of the workshop. Switches made during the workshop will be retained and donated to Special Schools for the use of their kids.

Age Requirements

Children can attend if they are accompanied by an adult. Participants have to hold a soldering iron.

Age Waiver
