Post-screening Talk: Romantic or Pathetic? The Spectre of the Lovelorn Woman in Popular Malay Film

About the Speaker

Siti Hazirah Mohamad is a film enthusiast with a deep interest in the various facets of Malay language and its intersection with popular culture. A graduate of the Malay Studies programme at the National University of Singapore, she was raised on a steady diet of classic Malay films which she learnt to problematise only much later. She remains intrigued by the power of moving images in shaping and reflecting society's perceptions and attitudes towards pertinent issues that affect the community.
