Meet Eva Wong Nava, as she reads and performs from her book Open- A Boy’s Wayang Adventure.
Open is a 10-year old boy with a curiosity for life and the things that happen around him. He is on the autism spectrum, loves to draw and is especially good at drawing monkeys. When his class is chosen to put up a Chinese Opera based on Journey to the West, Open must find it in himself to overcome his obstacles. Along the way, he makes a friend who loves and accepts him for who he is.
During the session, participants will be sharing and discussing what they understand to be special needs in their families, schools and communities, and why autism is a special need. This is followed by why they think acceptance, tolerance and inclusion are so important in our communities.
This programme is suitable for children aged 7 - 12 years old.
