Dance your night away with Thomson Swing band!
Who says the library is only for the shy and quiet? Bring a friend to the library and learn about Swing Music together, or come enjoy the music and make new friends!
Expect a delightful, foot tapping performance from the Thomson Swing, one of two Big Bands from the Thomson Jazz Club based at Thomson CC. They will intersperse their music with informed comments about jazz history and the musicians that brought it to the forefront.
This session is suitable for adults and seniors.
Admission is free.
Let's Think Beyond is a series of programmes curated for the "Black & Gold" theme at library@harbourfront for this November and December. During this period, we wish to engage the community in diverse areas and think about the discrimination and stereotypes that govern us. We invite you to think beyond: be open, embrace differences and act for harmony.
More about the band:
Thomson Jazz Club has a 26 year performance history, first swung into action by Eddie Chan in 1993. Thomson Swing itself began in 1997 to accommodate the many number of musicians keen to play in the Band. So this will be a performance by talented musicians passionate about reaching audiences with their music. They have had audiences in tune with them at Marina Bay Sands at home, and abroad at Ned Kelly’s, Hong Kong’s Oldest Jazz Pub, and in Malacca, at the Geographer Café. Their love of playing music and refreshing enthusiasm of sharing Big Band music still remains the heart of Thomson Swing Band.
