What pain and adversity in life have taught me—a personal sharing by millennials featured in The Straits Times Generation Grit series.

Panelists:
Mr Delane Lim, founder of Character and Leadership Academy
Delane, 34, was once suicidal due to a multitude of health, business and romantic problems. But he bounced back from that depressive episode to learn more about suicide prevention and started a charity, the Character and Leadership Academy, which trains students to spot signs of depression in their peers and help them.

Ms Ju-Ann Thong, caregiver
Ju-Ann, 35, juggles multiple jobs to take care of her cancer-stricken husband and three children. An adopted child, she went through a previous abusive relationship that left her depressed. Today, she is not only a wife, mother, daughter, worker and entrepreneur, but also a friend to cancer patients and their families going through tough times.

Ms Azlin Amran, employment support specialist at SPD
Azlin, 34,  became paralysed from the waist down after falling into the pit of an escalator in 2013.  It took time before she could even think about the future, but through her determination, she overcame her despair, found love and now helps other people with disabilities return to work.

Speaker:
Ms Theresa Tan, Senior Social Affairs Correspondent, The Straits Times.

Theresa Tan has been with the paper since 2000 and has spent years reporting on the poor, the marginalised and those who seek to make the world a better place. Theresa helms the Generation Grit series about millennials who have shown remarkable courage and resilience in dealing with the adversities in their lives.
