Remembrances: People, Places, Events
7.00pm – 7.40pm
Specially curated by the National Archives of Singapore, take a step back in time to the 1930s to 1970s through this series of video and film footage. Captured through the eyes of ordinary Singaporeans and expatriates, these home movies present personal portraits of people, places and events that have since faded or even disappeared from Singapore today. These will be interspersed with snippets of community and national events that showcase the different facets of the daily lives of Singaporeans.
Chinta Kaseh Sayang
7.50pm – 9.40pm
Directed by Cathay-Keris star director Hussein Haniff, Chinta Kaseh Sayang tells the story of Normah (Latifah Omar) and her marriage to a workaholic painter who is more intent on making money out of his art than showing concern and affection for her. She couldn’t care less about his artistic pursuits and spends time dolling herself up. Her beauty catches the eye of Jamal (Ghazali Sumantri), a car salesman, who pursues her to the neglect of his work, wife and children.
The 2K restoration of Chinta Kaseh Sayang was made possible using the sole surviving 16mm positive print preserved in the Asian Film Archive Collection: Cathay-Keris Malay Classics.
