1. Book your visit

Click here to book your visit in advance. Note that:

  • One booking per person per day
    • Unaccompanied children are required to book their visit.
    • Children under 12 - accompanied by parents or caregivers - do not require a booking.
    • Bookings are not required for Book Drop and Reservation Pick-Up.
  • Book in advance
  • To gain entry:
    • Show SMS confirmation-only valid SMS will be accepted.
    • All parties in a group booking must be present.
    • Check in with Safe Entry.
    • Let us check your temperature. Do note that persons with temperature above 37.5 degrees will be denied entry.
  • Please arrive promptly. Your slot will be released after a grace period.

 

2. Information on time-slots (from 20 Oct 2020)

Public Libraries & The LLibrary

  • (From 20 Oct) To ensure everyone has a chance to use the library, each booking is valid for 3 hours at regional libraries, and 2 hours at all other public libraries.
  • Your slot will be released after a grace period of 30 minutes.
  • Maximum of 5 people per booking.
  • Children under 12 – accompanied by parents/caregivers - do not require a booking.

National Library

(Lee Kong Chian Reference Library, Levels 7-11, National Library Building)

  • (From 20 Oct) Three(3) time-slots per day. Each time slot is 3 hours.
  • The reservation is released after a grace period of 30 mins. 
  • Maximum of 1 person per booking.
  • Online booking is also required for use of the Bloomberg Terminal. Each slot is one(1) hour (grace period of 30 minutes before the slot is released). Patrons with bookings are required to register at the Level 8 counter. It is not necessary to make a separate booking to enter the library.

 

(Study Lounge, Level 5, National Library Building)

  • (From 20 Oct) Three(3) time-slots per day. Each time slot is 3 hours.
  • The reservation is released after a grace period of 30 mins. 
  • Maximum of 1 person per booking.

National Archives of Singapore – Archives Reading Room

  • Four time slots will be available. 10:00 AM – 12:45 PM, 12:45 PM – 3:30 PM, 3:30PM – 6:15 PM, 6:15 PM – 9:00 PM. (Grace period of 30 minutes before the slot is released). 
  • Maximum of 1 person per booking.

Former Ford Factory

  • Six time slots will be available. 9:00 AM – 10:25 AM, 10:25 AM – 11:50 AM, 11:50AM – 1:15PM, 1:15 PM – 2:40PM, 2:40 PM – 4:05PM, 4:05 PM – 5:30PM. (Grace period of 30 minutes before the slot is released). 
  • Maximum of 5 people per booking.

 

3. More information about the booking system

What do I need to make a booking?

  • You will need Internet access on a laptop or a mobile device, a mobile phone number and a mobile devices that can receive SMSes. To enter our libraries and archives, please show your SMS booking confirmation to our staff. If you would like an optional booking receipt, an email address is required.

Can I book for my family/make group bookings?

  • Yes, for public libraries, The LLibrary and Former Ford Factory. You can book up to five (5) people at one time. Children (aged 12 years and below) accompanied by parents or caregivers do not need to make a booking. The entire group has to be present when they are let in. Latecomers to the group will have to queue to get in.
  • There is no group booking for visits to the National Library Singapore (Lee Kong Chian Reference Library) or use of the Bloomberg Terminal and the National Archives of Singapore Building (Archives Reading Room). Each reservation is limited to one patron.

Can I amend my booking?

  • Yes, you may amend your booking only if you have provided an email address, at point of booking. In your email notification, you may choose to edit or cancel your booking. When editing your booking, you may reselect library location, timeslot and/or the number of persons for the visit. For a booking that has been rescheduled or cancelled, you will receive an SMS and email notification.

5. Resumption of services (from 20 Oct 2020)

Public Libraries & The LLibrary

  • Seating and and study areas will be available but at limited capacity
  • eNewspaper and multimedia stations will be available but at limited capacity.
  • Maximum of 5 people per booking.
  • A limited number of public programmes will progressively resume with capacity controls and safe management measures in place.
  • Book drops and reservation lockers will continue to be available.
  • Physical library materials can still be borrowed and returned.
  • Pick up of reserved items is available from the Reservation Lockers at public libraries, and from the “Reserved Items” shelf located inside the LLibrary.

National Library

  • The Lee Kong Chian Reference Library is open with reduced capacity.
  • Full reference services such as reservations and reference enquiries are available.
  • Exhibition areas such as The News Gallery on Level 11 are open, with multimedia interactives switched off to minimise high-touch surfaces.
  • The Study Lounge on Level 5 is open with reduced capacity.

National Archives of Singapore

  • Access to archival collections & services will resume.
  • Patrons will continue to be allowed to sit in the Archives Reading Room and access the collections for onsite reference only.
  • Full access to the National Archives of Singapore’s eResources/database stations will continue.

Former Ford Factory

  • Full access to the Gallery@Former Ford Factory will continue.
