Generations of Singaporeans used to live in single-storey wooden structures with attap or zinc roofs in villages known as kampongs, surrounded by nature. Urban redevelopment after post-independence Singapore had transformed most of the landscape from villages to high-rise blocks of flats. Join Senior Librarian Ang Seow Leng as she highlights resources on kampongs and people’s memories of kampongs.

About the Speaker
Senior Librarian Ang Seow Leng has been with the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library since the 1990s. Her main responsibilities include managing collections, developing content for the library’s electronic resources such as Singapore Infopedia, BiblioAsia, as well as providing reference and research services related to Singapore and Southeast Asia.
