NLB’s annual celebration of the joy of reading returns! Read! Fest 2017 invites the curious and bookish of all ages to spice up their reading diet through an array of programmes across the public libraries. Be exposed to the best works by Singapore authors, fresh perspectives on familiar and new stories, and opportunities to create works that everyone can enjoy.

Asian Spice Appreciation Workshop with Celebrity Chef & Author Devagi Sanmugam
Join award-winning cookbook author Devagi Sanmugam on this fascinating journey to explore the spices of Asia! Spices add aroma, flavour, colour and pungency to food. Many also have rich medicinal benefits and are used in skincare and perfume. Learn to recognise different spices, as well as their origins and uses, by touching, smelling and tasting these flavourful ingredients yourself. Known widely as ‘Spice Queen’, Devagi Sanmugam, is one of Singapore's most dynamic and talented food personalities is always concocting recipes for her latest project or conducting cooking classes. She will be talking about her experience as an author of many cookbooks – 22 and counting!
