ASIAN FILM ARCHIVE COLLECTION

The Asian Film Archive Collection comprises Asian features and short films, with a focus on Southeast Asian films. A large number of these films were made by independently-funded filmmakers. Some of their works have yet to be archived in their country of origin.

In addition, within the collection sits the Asian Film Archive: Singapore Collection which consists of Singaporean-made feature and short films that were funded by the Singapore Film Commission. This collection includes award-winning films of Singaporean filmmakers in the likes of Royston Tan, Boo Junfeng, Anthony Chen, Tan Pin Pin and Wee Li Lin. The availability of the Singapore Collection is made possible through the collaboration of National Library Board Singapore, Asian Film Archive and Singapore Film Commission.

How to find: Information on the catalogued films can be found via NLB’s online catalogue at http://catalogue.nlb.gov.sg. Search our catalogue with the series title “Asian Film Archive”. These reference films may only be viewed within the premises of library@esplanade and are not available for loan. Customers can request to view the films from the Customer Service Counter at library@esplanade by filling up a request form at least a day in advance.

 

ARTS ALIVE COLLECTION

The Arts Alive Collection was developed as an initiative by the National Library Board Singapore to document Singapore’s performing arts in  theatre, dance and music to preserve Singapore’s cultural heritage and raise public awareness of the performing arts scene in Singapore. The collection currently housed at the library@esplanade comprise of selected recordings of performances that are available for onsite reference.

PERFORMING ARTS JOURNALS (PRINT)

The library@esplanade subscribes to a range of performing arts journals covering Music, Film, Theatre and Dance, some of which may not be available on the online databases. The journals are found in Arts Central and are available for loan over the counter.
