About the book: Mr. Polly is a middle-aged man whose marriage is getting stale and is bored as a tailor shop owner. Faced with the threat of bankruptcy, he concludes that the only way to escape his dire existence is by burning his shop to the ground and killing himself. Events take an unexpected turn as Mr. Polly saves a life in the ensuing fire, fakes his death, and escapes to a world of heroism, hope, and ultimate happiness.
